Are you not sure where to start in your sustainability journey? This roundtable session will provide key concepts and resources for you to start developing a sustainability plan for your program, organization or institution. You will learn how to implement existing initiatives and resources that are easy to put into practice. Work with the facilitators and other participants to draft an actionable roadmap that begins to tell your story of sustainability.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion participants will be able to identify and describe the specific environmental, social and economic impacts caused by study abroad programs, including waste generation, carbon emissions, energy consumption, resource depletion or social inequalities.
  • Upon completion participants will be able to understand the importance of developing a strategic sustainability plan for their own organization/institution in the context of education abroad, to mitigate and manage the identified impacts, whilst enhancing the positive effects that Ed Abroad can have on the student’s sustainability skills, perspectives and real case applications.
  • Upon completion participants will learn and articulate the general premise of the UN SGDs and CANIE accord.
  • Upon completion participants will develop a basic framework for a sustainability plan through group work and facilitators specific to their own organizational needs.
