Strategies & Tools for Long Term Positive Impact for Short Term Programs

Join us to explore how the University of Louisville’s International Service Learning Program creates our ever-evolving models for ethical and sustainable community engagement during Short Term programs with lasting effects using guidelines, research, and global partner feedback. Collaborate with us! This poster includes interactive resources and tools to help you and your colleagues maximize their community engagement potential during Short Term programs abroad.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to describe how EA can use Community Engagement during short term global programs to create active, purposeful, meaningful engagement in the visiting locations.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to use the resources on the poster; a rubric for selecting in country community service projects, assessment tools, and guides to enhance collaboration and maintain ethical and sustainable practices for short term programming. These are interactive and we will have a QR code on the poster with a link to an online resource page for those that wish to implement this in their own institutions.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to identify current opportunities for cross-campus collaborations and in-country EA partners that can assist in enriching the community engagement of their visiting country and clearly define innovative strategies to enhance the community engagement of their short term programs.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to identify and implement strategies for more ethical and sustainable practices during short term programs.
