According to the National Center for Education Statistics (2024), 21% of undergraduate students report having a disability. The proposed poster will address the need to increase access to equitable experiences for students with disabilities studying abroad and the required institutional commitment to inclusive policy development, equitable support services, and accessible program design.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the demographics and associated challenges of undergraduate students with disabilities.
Explore institutional legal and ethical obligations related to study abroad policy development for students with disabilities.
Identify the necessary support services that enable students with disabilities to participate in study abroad programs.
Design accessible and inclusive programming in multiple formats with flexibility to meet all student needs
