Strengthening Partnerships: Collaborative Support for Faculty Leaders in EA

Join us for an engaging session that unlocks powerful collaborations between study abroad offices and faculty leaders! Discover how shifting from working for faculty to working alongside them can create dynamic partnerships that elevate education abroad. We’ll share success stories and showcase tailored resources designed to streamline administrative tasks, clarify expectations, and enhance risk management. We are thrilled to demonstrate how you can also join this collaborative movement!

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the Importance of Collaborative Relationships: Participants will recognize the critical role of partnerships between study abroad offices and faculty leaders in the success of faculty-led programs. They will learn to foster open communication and collaboration to build trust, enhance program development, and improve the student experience. Additionally, participants will discover the value of establishing a feedback loop that encourages ongoing dialogue through regular check-ins and post-program meetings. They will leave equipped with practical strategies for conducting listening sessions and feedback meetings that facilitate trust and constructive sharing of insights from faculty.
  • Identify and Address Common Challenges: Attendees will gain insights into typical challenges in these partnerships, such as misunderstandings about partnership scope, administrative frustrations, and lack of transparency. By unpacking these pain points and analyzing solutions, participants will be better equipped to navigate and resolve issues in their own contexts.
  • Develop Responsive Resources: Participants will explore successful resources created from faculty feedback and learn how to collaboratively design tools—such as task checklists, program timelines, budget protocols, and emergency resources—that meet the unique needs of faculty leaders, ultimately enhancing program effectiveness.
  • Lead Change on Their Campuses: Participants will be encouraged to become champions of collaboration by developing actionable plans to implement the strategies discussed during the session. They will identify specific opportunities for enhancing partnerships between their offices and faculty leaders at their institutions, setting clear, measurable goals for achieving impactful change. By sharing their commitments within their peers at this session, participants will leave motivated to drive transformative initiatives that enrich faculty-led programs and elevate the study abroad experience for all students.
