Rachel is of Mi’kmaq, Danish, and English ancestry, is a member of Gesgapegiag First Nation and currently works and resides in the Sɨpekne'katik district of Mi’kma’ki. Rachel holds an M.Ed. in Inclusive Education, a B.Ed. in Secondary Education, and a B.Sc. in Psychology and Biology. She is currently the Advisor in Culturally Responsive Practice at Nova Scotia Community College. Her previous work in the education field has included faculty and advisor roles, and teaching English in Shanghai. Her work at the post-secondary level has focused on centering Indigenous knowledges and pedagogies throughout curriculum development, teaching practice, and student and faculty support.
