This session explores the design of culturally responsive curricula for first-year students studying abroad. It will cover strategies for balancing academics with cultural adaptation, integrating diversity into course content, and evaluating programme effectiveness. Attendees will understand how to implement curricula that support academic success and cultural immersion and refer to student feedback to support findings.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will gain an understanding of the key principles of designing culturally responsive curricula tailored to first-year students studying abroad. This includes knowledge of how to integrate cultural context, diversity, and inclusivity into academic content to enhance first-year student engagement and learning outcomes.
Attendees will learn how to balance academic rigor with the unique needs of first-year students who are adjusting to new cultural and educational environments. This objective will focus on creating curricula that supports intellectual growth and cultural adaptation.
