Born and raised in Georgia, USA, Alexis moved to Costa Rica in 2014. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching and a B.S. in Chemistry and was a high school teacher in an international school before transitioning into study abroad. In 2019, Alexis co-founded Costa Rica Global Learning Programs and currently serves as the President and Director of Programming of the organization.
